Message in a bottle???

Or more like color from a bottle?

Mr. A and I have been trying to cut way back on finances to save for several large purchases we would like to make next year. One being a house and the other a second honeymoon to Italy with friends. In order to reach these goals we have to cut way back on everything and I mean everything. I am couponing it up at the grocery store, no new clothing for a bit and we are for sure not doing any huge Christmas gifts (we did just get everything for the wedding anyway). We are in the process of merging all of our money and looking into everything we spend and we have realized we budget an embarrassing amount of money for my hair each month. It is almost $100 a month!!!! The reason you ask? I actually have grey hair and at 27 years old it is really embarrassing and frustrating. And no it is not just one or two hairs people I am almost 70% grey. I never want anyone to see it so I am always super diligent about getting those grey hairs covered.

Well in the spirit of cutting back I am considering doing touch ups from the store bought variety. I need suggestions on good products and techniques. I want to know what works best. Am I risking a lot by attempting this? Am I being silly? I feel like this is a thrifty way to make some cut backs but I am concerned I am going to come out looking like an old lady. I will still go see my regular girl for hair cuts and a touch up every 4 or so months but this would be a good bridge between now and then. Thoughts? Recommendations?

The search for the perfect bikini

I am currently shopping for bathing suites for the honeymoon. I have one from VS that is emerald green and super cute. I like it so much but it was freaking $80, does this seem like a lot of money for a bra and panties you swim in? Come on it is two little pieces of fabric!

So in my search I went to Old Navy thinking they would have some cute cheap mix and match items. I was mistaken, so very mistaken. Their whole collection was neon colored string bikinis made for 12 year old girls. WTF is that? I then headed to Target, my long standing go to for pretty much everything an anything. Again, all these bright crazy patterned ugly as crap string numbers that I would have to weigh two pounds to even be seen in it. I then tried VS again, thinking oh well it worked one time. Well apparently they like only glitter action on their pieces witch is so practical, or they think all women look like the bitches in their catalog. Eff them.

So now I have gone on to JCrew. Apparently they are offering an additional 20% off of sale items (final sale of course) right now. I thought perfect I can for sure find something at good old JCrew. 2 hours of picking colors and bottoms and tops I like to only find out they don't have the size I like in the color I like later I still came up with nothing. I found one freaking matching set that I am going to have to buy now because I invested so much freaking time. I just hope it is not too ugly. GOD!!!! Here is the top, what do you think?

Where can I find a cute bathing suite ladies???? I am going nuts.

I Lust After You...

Shoes from JCrew that are far to expensive for me. I love you anyway. You are the perfect shade of blue (click the link below for the right color blue) with the most perfect peep to design. I want to wear you for my wedding, but just can not justify the rediculousness of your price tag. I must move on. I must find another...

Click Here to get the right picture. I. Love. These. Shoes. I will always remember you dear sweet shoes.

New Fancy Panties

Sometimes a girl just have to give into the fancy panties. This weekend I had some returns to make at Nordstrom and with the money I got back I was told I must buy something pretty and feminine by my mother. So with that I bought four new pairs of Hankey Pankies, a new bra and my first piece of bridal lingerie. It was super weird shopping in the bridal section as it was my first time looking for what I wanted. I found what I think was cute but I could still sleep in.

As mentioned I got a new bra. I had not been fitted for a bra since well junior year. I did not know it but I was wearing the totally wrong size bra. The girl sizing me laughed at me when she saw my bra. If you have not done this you should get sized. I think a lot of woman hate wearing bras because they are not wearing the right size. My new bra was $40 on sale at Nordies and totally worth every penny. I feel great!

Fashion Trends I cant Pull off – Part two

First, as an update let me tell you about what has been going on on my Facebook page. A friend put a posting on my wall about how she disagreed about my not being able to pull of skinny jeans. Meanwhile she is one of those super tall thing girls that can pull of any fashion trend! Here is the conversation from my page between my self, and my friends Amy and other blogger Amelia:

Amy: Read your blog post on skinny jeans ... lol, and I think perhaps you just haven't found the right pair. Once you do, it's all you'll wear. Promise. Or maybe try straight legs (if you need baby steps). Congrats on the tights outfit. Now work the belt and try this one - shorts, stocking, boots ... I KNOW!

Amelia: i have to disagree...you have to be built like amy or heidi klum to look good in skinny jeans. for the rest of us, they make our legs look exactly like an upside down triangle as you so eloquently put it. with gigantic boat feet. NOT a good look for 99.9% of the population.
although i DID buy a pair to wear with jeans...this is totally different. :)

Christine: Amelia, I am so glad you have my back on this! There is no way to make this look go right on my body type. It's truly horrible. I am currently freaking out though cus I apparently have no sense of style and cant figure out what the heck to wear for these silly pictures! I might need you to come over Friday and tell me if I look like and upside down triangle in what I have. Maybe even borrow some fantastic accessories for my fashionista friend Amelia?

See Amy you are just lucky - you are freakishly tall and thin. If you were not my friend I would have to hate you... :)

So then Amelia, decides to post on her own page about this controversy, showing two pictures of models, one in skinny jeans and one in boot cut. Here is her post:

RE: the skinny jean controversy...

i feel that from the following pictures, we can all agree that the second pair of jeans (the boot cut) makes even this model - who CAN pull off the skinny jeans, much like amy and heidi - look so much thinner and more proportional...

And here are her pictures, let me know what you guys think:

In the mean time other fashion trends I can not pull off -

The flower headband, its just not a good look on me:

Shopping Woes

So I have recently lost a bit of weight so almost none of my clothing fits anymore. It either looks huge or just looks sloppy, either way no good for me. So I recently started looking for new clothes for work and for play. The problem is that I can't seem to find anything that I really really like. I have online shopped at J Crew, Banana and at Ann Taylor Loft. I liked a few things but everything that is a great "deal" right now is either the wrong size or really ugly and let's face it I am not paying full price for clothing.

So I widened my search to Target, Old Navy, Martin and Osa, and Anthro. Well still nothing all that stellar. I found a cute dress at Target for work. I got some other basics too, but again nothing too fab. I really need new basic black heals and new work pants and a black pencil skirt. I would love some new blouses for work and for my confrences as well. I dont want to pay an arm and a leg for these items as well, is that too much to ask for? I thought the economy was in the crapper and everything was on sale! From what I have seen everything that is on sale is crap! I think part of the problem is I always go shopping alone. I also have no idea what size I am anymore so I am pretty sure everything I try on is just not fitting right because its the wrong size.

I dont know what is wrong with me but I am definatly in a shopping funk. Anyone have any ideas?
