One Year Ago

WF and I got engaged one year ago this weekend. I can not get over how fast went by! In one year we got engaged, moved in together, planned most of our wedding, got him a new job, became an aunt and uncle for the second time and overall just had a blast!

I recently read a post on Survival Guide For The Young and Fabulous Newlywed  and it made me think of how I feel about WF. She said something along the lines of her husband being like her favorite pair of sweatpants. Comfortable, relaxed and the first thing I reach for when I walk in the door from a long day at work. I could not agree with her more. WF is my rock and is always there for me. He makes me feel at home and relaxed and always knows just what to say to make me feel better. I can't express how much he means to me.

Here is to a year of being an engaged couple! Here is to the next three and a half months left of being engaged! And here is too being Mr. and Mrs. "A" for the rest of our lives!

Lovely Lunch

Sometimes I am so lucky to have my future husband comes meet me for lunch. Today lunch at the Texas capitol grounds!

It was really bright out. But what a nice lunch date!

Funny things my future husband says...

My future husband is funny and I don't think he knows it. This morning we were talking about the "good looking dude bracket" they are doing on the radio. Anywho I said something like of course Brad Pitt is going to win, I mean he is freaking Brad Pitt. He turns to me and says the following:

"Brad Pitt is a fucking god. I would give my left nut to be Brad Pitt. It would not matter because once I am Brad Pitt I could make my own ball grow back. Because I am a god of course."

I proceeded to choke on my tooth paste and tell him I loved him...

Oh god please no... must fight it

I am sick. It is official. I am super gross sick. I don't sound that bad just yet but it is coming. My throat is on FIRE and my glands are swollen. I am achy and tired and I can barley open my eyes enough to type this.

There are several large problems with being sick at this time. Let me fill you in. First this Thursday I have a big surprise planned for WF and I. I will not tell you what it is just in case he does read this. But let me tell you being sick will really imped the experience. Plus the added not feeling hot and sexy at all when you are trying to celebrate Valentines day with your finance really kinda blows. Then we have a wedding this weekend in Houston. We have to travel to Houston and go to this wedding. Again not fun when you are sick. On top of that we are going to visit my niece and nephew, fun but not when you are hacking all over them. (Although I am pretty sure they are the ones that got me sick in the first place, ass holes) Then next week is going to be super busy for me. I have a HUGE week long conference that I work like 20 hour days at. Being sick BLOWS during said events.

The WORST part of all of this? Is WF is sick too. You ladies must know that grown men are the biggest babies when it comes to having any sort of cold symptom. They wine and bitch about how sick they are. WF is great most of the time but when he has a cold, OMG I could hit him. Last night he kept joking that he thought he was dying. REALLY? Scratchy throat and you think you are dying?

My rant is over now.

Tuesday Porn

You dirty girl, you thought I had real porn on here didn't you!? I don't, but I do have some pictures of my fiance doing dishes. To me this is porn. Its amazing to me how many men out there don't help out around the house. My WF is not always perfect but he does help out DAILY with the dishes. I cook and he cleans. It is awesome. He has been really great these last few weeks as I get deeper into wedding planning land. I really can't thank him enough for trying when he can. So just for you here is a taste of my porn collection for you ladies:

Work it....

I don't know about you but I need a cigarette...

I live in santa's workshop...

We got most of our Christmas decorating done this weekend. WF's family was in town and insisted they buy us a good grown up tree. So here is what we bought this is pre decorating:

We then laid out all of my nutcrackers and all of our other decorations here is one shot of the mantle. I have over 50 nutcrackers, thought I should spare you pictures of all of them:

And here are some shots of us decorating our first tree together:

WF has decorated the outside porch and the windows. I will get you pictures of that soon! This really is my favorite time of year. Everything is about family, faith and togetherness. I love lots of cookies and hot coco. What are your favorite treats? Do any of you like Christmas time as much as me?

Tonight Kelly and Janet are coming over for dinner. Janet's birthday was this weekend so we are going to toast her and catch up. After all this lovey dovey family stuff I need some good old girl time.

Cleaning Update

So ladies I told you Monday that I had a lot of stuff to do this week. Little did I know that all the planning the world would not have prepped me for all the work I have done this week. I not only have gotten all the cleaning (except for the pantry organizing) done. I have also returned all the possible table setting items and settles on linins for thanksgiving. I got them all from BBB and think we picked a good one. I like that I can use it all fall and not just for thanksgiving. Here is what it looks like:

http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=121281&RN=454
(Sorry no pictures)

I have also prepped all of the food for tonight’s birthday party for WF. He is turning 28 so he is feeling a bit “old”. To help combat this I have planned quite a few surprises for him and our friends and I am hoping to make him feel like a kid once again. Some of the highlights include a cupcake bar and guitar hero tournament on our Wii. There is a theme for the night but I want to keep it a surprise for my guests so I will unveil it with pictures next week. But it is awesome!

This weekend I will be cleaning the house once again after the party and then doing a HUGE grocery shopping trip for Thanksgiving. I am hoping that I can go early Sunday morning before anyone else gets up and just get it done.

Then the best part of the weekend, our engagement pictures! Woo Whoo!  We have not settled on all of our locations just yet but I am looking forward to getting to know Carli better as well as getting to spend some time making out with WF! I am really excited because I think I have finalized what I am wearing, barring any additions my girlfriends might make tonight at the party.

I can’t wait to share them all with you guys! Hope you have a great weekend!

Amazing Halloween Pumpkin Carving Skills

I must start off by telling you all the WF and I have been known to get just a little crazy about holidays. In the next few months I will be posting our decorations for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We both love to decorate our house and this year will be the first time we get to do the our house together! Whooo WHO!

Last night we attempted to carve a pumpkin. I say attempted because when we went to the store to buy said pumpkin there were like three left and all of them were deformed AND they were out of the carving kits so we had no tools to help us out. So we when free style with our somewhat deformed pumpkin. I think we did a pretty good job. Here is the result:

I know you are totally blown away! Anyway, here are some other features of our Halloween decorations in the house. Remember this year we held back because of all the stuff that has recently went down in our lives. This is a reserved house for us:

This is our balcony, you cant tel but it looks awesome with our pumpkins!

This is our skeleton on our end table. It is complete with smoke effects!

Hanging on the door when you walk into the house is this scary guy!

This is us last night trying to take a picture of us with our pumpkin. You get the idea!

WF and I are taking my niece trick or treating this weekend, I am super excited. I will be dressing up like a pirate. We are also handing out candy too! I am pumped! I hope you guys have fun this weekend. Remember to be safe and don't eat any opened or shady candy! That's solid advice from this Yankee!

Friday Night Movie Night

In attempt to continue "dating" while in conjunction save money WF and I started movie nights about a year ago. It is a fun way for he and I to share some time together that is totally stress free. We never do anything but rent a movie, get and snarf down Pei Wei and drink too much wine on the sofa in our PJ's together. It is something that sounds so simple but it has become a ritual for us. We love it. I look forward to it every weekend. Obviously if something comes up that is more important we miss movie night, but we are both always bummed about it. The last few weeks we have had a lot going on and have not gotten to do it.

Tonight we are having a real movie night. WF gets home from work around 9. I bust out the wine and Pei Wei for him by 9:10 and by 9:15 we are on the sofa in our PJ's enjoying snuggles from our puppy and the wonderful heaven that are Pei Wei crab wantons. I am so excited for tonight!

The rest of the weekend we are going to catch up on our wedding planning stuff. I will have an update for you all on Monday! Hope you guys have a good weekend!

Job Frustraition (Not Mine)

So I don't think it is much of a secret that my wonderful fiance is a really great guy. He really is a good person and I am not just saying that. He recently graduated with his master's in international diplomacy, speaks like 3 languages fluently and a bunch others conversationally. He is super smart and if people would just give him a freaking shot I know in my heart of hearts he will do such great things! But no, he is getting anything. No interviews, not even emails back. NOTHING.

He tries so hard and this has been going on for a year now. He took an internship at a really prestigious firm her in Austin last year and the loved him. Told him he was for sure going to get hired there and if not there they would help find him a job. Well then the economy tanked and it was every man for himself. He was then flown up to DC for an interview with the number 1 polling firm in the world. Got to the final two and then they decided to go on a hiring freeze! So in the mean time he took a retail job managing to help pay the bills. Well that place SUCKS too. He is now driving to frigging Bastrop from north Austin and is killing himself to do right by us.

Then there was a glimmer of hope. A job was opening in a local association. I knew he would be perfect for him and I knew all the right people to get a leg up on the competition. He has the background and the drive. I just needed to get him a foot in the door. And I thought I had. My wonderful co-worker, put in a good name for him. The hiring manager said he was really interested. All was going so well. And then today only 4 days after the job "officially" opened, I find out they hired some chick. WTF?!? Really like 4 days later and its done. And why then Mr. Hiring manager would you not say something to my coworker about the fact that you already hired someone? Come on! The false hope is killing me but most of all having to tell my wonderful brilliant man that our one glimmer of hope was snuffed out before he even had a chance is just about going to kill me. I am so sad right now, and I just don't know what the hell to do.

Stupid economy.

Fluffernutter Awesomeness

So, fiance and I like to ask each other questions as we lay in bed falling asleep. I find it a good time to ask silly questions and talk to each other. Last night I asked him the question, "If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life what would it be?". He told me Gummy bears. He loves gummy bears, could eat them every day all day. In fact there is very serious discussion of his grooms cake being a huge gummy bear!

So he then proceeded to ask me the same question. After some serious thought I came up with the best sandwich ever made known to man. The Flufernetter. If you are not aware of what this is I shall explain. It is marshmallow fluff and peanut butter on two slices of bread. Amazing really. I seriously could eat one of these everyday for the rest of my life (if calories did not exist) and never get bored with it. In fact I ate one of them every day for my entire 7th grade year. My mom used to joke I would turn in too a fluffernutter sandwich one day.

Then he and I started talking about my second favorite thing in the world, Nutella. Again if you do not know what this is it is a chocolate and hazelnut spread. Taste like heaven. I put that stuff on everything. My favorite desert is strawberries and whip cream with nutella.

So I think we may have been really tired because we then started thinking what if you could dip the fluffernutter into the nutella? I mean does that not sound like the most fantastic idea ever? Like what if you could smash together amazing and heaven? Hevmazing! That's what you get! Man, now I really want something sweet. I wonder why?

Anyway, what do you think you would eat for the rest of your life if you could only have one thing?

The MOST Amazing Race!

This weekend I spent 90% of my time hanging out with my sister and brother in-law as well as my AWESOME niece Annabelle. She is perfect in every way and totally hysterical. This picture is just one of a million. I think she is the funniest little girl in the world. Then when I got home fiance and I decided to do some DVR catching up while eating wildly not WW friendly pizza. Whatever, don't judge. As we were flipping through the recordings I was delighted to find that the Amazing Race started! I LOVE THAT SHOW.
It is literally the only show where I actually have, and will continue to try out for. I think my fiance and I would be funny as all heck on that show. We are both super competitive, in fact game night is banned at our house due to the fights we have had in the past from technicalitys during Crainum. We yell at each other the "encourage" each other and both of might just trip an old lady if that meant getting the that pit stop first on the show. Not going to lie, don't judge.

This week the teams went to Tokyo. I am totally jealous. They had to eat sushi, and at that they had to eat wasabi bombs! When fiance and I watch this show we watch it like we are actually participating in it. I say what challenges he would do and he says what he would be screaming at me if I screwed up. Its funny really, dont think we are weird. So the wasabi bomb challenge of course would go to him because he would eat anything. Then I was like "I would be screaming hurry the F up P^%$*" yes we really are that comepetitve, dont judge. So then they have to heard ducks in Vietnam. Fiance and I were both screaming at the TV like oh come on I could totally do that, what the heck hearding ducks cant be that hard. After the show was over we then turned to eachother and said something along the lines of, "thank got we are marrying eachother because no one else would love us".

Is this true, are we the only ones that get that competitve with thier significant others? Are we the only ones that think the producers at CBS are stupid for not picking us to run that race? Are we the only ones that totally obsess about everything that we would do on that race and how we would roll around in a bed of money when we won? NO?!? What? Wait...

Wedding Nightmare

So I have yet again had another wedding nightmare. This one was about my wedding dress.

A little background information. I have picked out the most wonderful dress in the world and I love it. I can't wait to wear it on my wedding day. But as all of you brides out there know you inevitably have second thoughts or just little glimpses of fear that you will end up hating it. I bought my dress over a year before my wedding and I knew when I bought it that I was going to have these little panic attacks. But I went ahead and bought it anyway because well it was on sale and I am cheap.

Anyway, so I had this dream that I went to pick up the dress from the dress shop and it was in a black plastic bag. I did not bother to look at the dress. I put on the dress the day of my wedding and did not pay too much attention to it (for some unknown ridiculous reason) and walked down the isle. As I was saying my vows I asked my future husband if he thought I looked sexy. His response was you are always beautiful but I did think you would pick something better than a moo moo for this occasion. I look down and the dress shop had given me the entirely wrong dress! The worst part was all of my pictures were in this horrible looking dress. I was so upset that I left the reception and yelled at the dress people, who insisted I picked out that piece of crap! I was furious. I then ended the night wearing sweatpants and sitting in my room alone. It was horrible. I guess this is my minds way of getting me back for being super judgy about other people's ugly dresses.

This is close to what I had on in the wedding of my nightmare:
I dont know if I can take this for another year.

I am totally a judger...

So in the last few months since i have started planning my wedding I have discovered how judgy and bitchy I am. I watch every wedding show known to man getting ideas. I have come to the conclusion that it does not matter how much money you have to spend on your wedding, if you don't have class or taste your wedding is going to be ugly.

Let me start off with "Say Yes To The Dress". My wonderful fiance came into the living room the other night watch it and literally stared at me with a face of shock and awe as I tore this girls dress apart. It was horrible, it just flows out of me like I am possessed. Like this gem, REALLY!!!!!???? A see through corset on your wedding day?!? COME ON!

I feel so bad trashing these girls, and wonderful fiance always says well what matters is that she feels beautiful in that dress. Well thank god I am marrying him because I am a horrible person that thinks someone should step in tell these girls they are NUT JOBS! The thing that makes me even more mad is when you see the price tags, for example the dress above is listed at $26,000!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway moving on from there it does not stop at the dress. I saw a million dollar wedding on platinum weddings the other day that was so tacky that I can't even convey the true awesomeness that it was. It was all pink, everything. Again I must say REALLY!?

So now that I am done trashing other bride's weddings please feel free to do the same to mine when you see my plans. I am sure someone is bound to hate it, but at lease I did not spend a million dollars on this bitch.
