A Perfect Weekend in Austin Recap

This weekend was one of the best weekends I have had in Austin ever. It was a perfect combination of relaxation, fun and friends. Like I have mentioned in recent posts we are so fortunate to live in such a great city and have such amazing friends. This weekend was the perfect example of just how lucky we are.

Friday – After work Mr. A and I decided to change up movie night and head down to the new Alamo Drafhouse on Slaughter Lane. We first had dinner at Kerby Lane on William Cannon and of course we shared a bowl of Kerby Queso, some of the best stuff on earth. Then we met our friends Jason and Amelia at Alamo to see the “Five Year Engagement”. This movie was adorable and super funny! We split the bomb cookies from there, Banana Chocolate Chip. Go there. Get them. Enjoy. You’re welcome.

Saturday – Mr. A had to work. I got up and met Kelly, her cute little girl Harper and Janet at the Farmer’s market at Barton Creek Mall. I have become fonder of the Farmers market every time I go and if any of you have a chance you should check it out. I am more and more convinced that if and when I can I will be going to buy local produce that is fresh and in season. I am sure I sound like a crazy hippy but let me tell you that the groceries I buy from the farmer’s market are more expensive for sure, but they taste more expensive. There is more flavors in everything I make from these farmers than anything I buy at even Whole Foods or Central Market. It is worth the extra money to cook with such amazing food. Sorry rant ended…

So after we met up and had breakfast Tacos we walked around and met Jason and Amelia and their sweet doggy Izzy. It was a perfect start to the day. After the farmer’s market I headed over to my Junior League of Austin volunteer shift at the YMCA field day in East Austin. We stood outside all day playing with cute kiddos in a bouncy house. Really, it should not have counted as volunteering. I totally lucked out too because all the girls with me were super nice, sometimes this is not the case which makes your time go by like molasses. After playing outside for 4 hours though I was wiped out. I came home and took an inventory of our house for our movers and then passed out on the sofa with the puppy.

Saturday night we went to late night happy hour at the Daily Grill at the Domain with Ben, Janet, Pete and Corey. It was great to have a night out. I believe that this will be a staple for Mr. A and I when we move as it is about 2 minutes from our new house and is super cheap. Where else can you get $3 cocktails on a Saturday night? Then we headed over to The Park, another new bar in the Domain and had another drink. It was so much fun to fist pump to club music with Janet.

Sunday – We got up at about 9:30 and headed down to the Barton Creek greenbelt. Mr. A hates getting out of bed, but once we get moving we both love being outside with our pup. We met up with Jason and Amelia (how lucky am I that I got to see them so much this weekend?) and then we walked to rainbow falls. The boys and pups jumped in the beautiful water and even did a rope swing! The water is still flowing and if you live in Austin and can make it out there you should. Water will not be there for much longer and it is just beautiful! After hiking back we ran to Central Market and picked up snacks and then headed to Zilker Park to picnic with a big group of friends. Kelly brought Miss Harper and it worked out to well. Harper looked totally adorable in her cute bonnet and we all sat around and chatted as our hordes of dogs played together. The boys played whiffle ball as the girls caught up under the shade of a giant tree. The breeze was blowing, the prosecco flowing, it was a perfect Sunday afternoon. All of us kept saying how rare it is to have us all available in a weekend to hang out like this anymore. I felt so lucky to get to spend time with everyone, as I know how busy we all are.

After we finished up at the park, we headed home and passed out! We were both showered and asleep by 830. It was glorious really.

As you can tell my love affair with Austin, food and our friends continues. Looking forward to closing on our house this week and painting all next weekend!

And the winner is...

I know I said I would get right back to you about what house we chose. I am so sorry it has taken me forever to get back to you on this. I had a few people pick both houses actually! In the end we picked option number …..

Wait for it....

ONE!!!!

We bought the first house! The deal is done! We could not be more excited to move into our cute new home with our dog and start making improvements!

To give those of you who have never bought a house the break down here are the phases of the process we have gone though:

1.       We put in an offer. First you sign a bunch of contracts with your agent and figure out what price you want to offer. In our case, there were three other offers coming on the house. So we knew offering less than asking was out of the question. To our REALTORS advice we also opted not to ask for concessions for closing costs. She thought this would give us more room for negotiations on the house for repairs after our inspection and she was right.
2.       You wait. You wait for the seller to get back to you. In our case they got back to us about 24 hours later. They countered with a few changes and after Mr. A got pissed off that we were not getting a deal (even though we were getting a house for WELL under our budget) we settled on the details. Sometimes you need to know when you have found a good deal for you.
3.       You wait some more. You wait while your realtor and their realtor drum up all the paperwork on the offer and you sign away again.
4.       Inspection. We have what in Texas is called an 7 day “option period”. Basically what this means is we give earnest money to the sellers of $100 so they will not sell the house to anyone else, while we got the inspection done. We had 7 days to get it done, and get cracking on asking for repairs. Two days after the offer was accepted we had our inspection done. (more on this later)
5.       Negotiations on repairs. After we tabulated all the repairs that the inspector suggested we had our REALTOR ask the sellers for about $2600 in repairs. They basically laughed at us and said they would do $750… they suck. We settled on $1000 in repairs with them also having an electrician come out and fix all of the issues with the electrical system. So with that it worked out to be about $1500 in repairs. So BAM done.
6.       Final Contract and amendments. We signed away on our final negotiations, including getting that totally bad ass picnic table you see in the listing, and signed the final contracts today! Woot Woot!

So there you have it. We are now out of our 7 day option period and the house is ours (mostly). We still need to get to closing. We gave them an escrow check and are closing on April 25th! In a month Mr. A, Harry and I will be closing on our first house! I am so pumped up right now!

Now we get to the fun stuff… picking paint colors to cover up that horrible red wall and possibly paint the fireplace! Who’s with me!?

2012 is going to be a great year!

How do I know this you ask? Because I am still in my "life is full of possiblities" high from New Years Eve, but I can tell you that I really do belive this year will be my best yet.

Reason why this year is going to be awesome #1: Mr. A and I will be buying a house this year!

We are meeting with a mortgage broker next week to get pre-approved. We have asked our good friend Molly to be our Realtor. We went and looked at some houses from the street and picked out some neighborhoods we love on New Years day with the family. I just can't wait to get started on the hunt. I am so over apartment living.

We are going to be looking in the 78757 area of Austin, as well as south west and north west Austin. Milwood has been surprising to us and we have already found a house we love in the neighborhood. Oh boy!

Reason #2: Many babies to be born... Not ours (yet)!

We have been blessed with a Niece and two Nephews and being and Aunt and Uncle is so much fun. This year is the first year our FRIENDS are having little ones and it is going to be awesome. Kelly, is due in March and Sarah (our great friend from Philadelphia) is due at the end of this month!!!! So much fun. We have several other friends pregnant as well. It is just going to a baby-full year! Can't wait for this new transition in all of our lives. Should be interesting.

Reason #3: Travel

Mr. A and I are planning trips to Philadelphia, and Alaska this year. We can't wait to visit friends and family and get out of Austin for a bit. This of course is all contingent on the home buying process.

Reason #4: We are debt free!

This year Mr. A and I are totally debt free. We only have my student loans to repay and I don't count those because they ultimately make me money as well. It is a great feeling to not worry about credit cards, car payments and everything else.

Reason #5: See reason #1!!!!!

WE ARE BUYING A HOUSE!!!!!!!! OMG! I can't wait.

Happy New Year to you all! Here is to a great year and a lot of fun!

What is irony?

Irony is going to see the movie Contagion with Mr. A on Friday. A movie about an infectious disease that kills half the world:

One year old wedding cake is gross...

Just an FYI in case you did not know!
Gross year old cake topper...
Seriously, the taste is still in my mouth.
I made a back up just in case!
On the other hand petite fours at TRIO are amazing.

Mr. A and I celebrated one year of marriage yesterday and I have to say we did it right.

We started off the night with a drink at the hotel we got married in, the Stephen F Austin Intercontinental. Then Mr. A in all of his awesomeness surprised me with dinner at TRIO in the Four Seasons Hotel. We sat right by the windows overlooking Town Lake and drank a fabulous bottle of wine. It was a truly amazing dinner finished off with locally grown peach cobbler and petite fours. WOW, is all I can say.

Go there, now.
Then we walked about 10 blocks back to the SFA hotel where Mr. A had be get a drink while he got the car out of valet. It was so nice out and we reminisced about taking out pictures out on Congress Ave.

Little did I know what he had planned. As we headed for the door he pressed the top floor button in the elevator! He got us the "Governor's Suite" with 180 degree views of the city, living room dining room, library and huge bedroom! Too much!

The surprises kept coming, he had the wine from our wedding waiting for us and our wedding album! So thoughtful!
After some screaming like a huge dork we sat town and looked at our album together remembering ever part of that wonderful day! It was perfect and so sweet. We laid in bed until 12 the next morning and ate breakfast looking out over the city we fell in love in.

I am so lucky to have married the best man in the whole world. I cat wait to see what year 2 has in store for us! Thank you you Mr. A for being the best friend and husband I could ask for.

This what happens when I read other peoples blogs...

I think I am cool and artsy.

This past weekend Mr.A had to work. So left alone to my own vices I decided to start on a new gallery wall for our living room. I was so inspired by Young House Love's gallery wall that I thought I would give it a try and see what kind of mess I could make.

A little background history for you. I bought a bunch of gold picture frames for our wedding that we used on the guest book table. I loved them for the wedding but I hated them for our house. I intended on selling them but after that failed I put them away in the closet and did not think about them for 6 months. After falling in love with what John and Sherry did I decided I needed to try it out. I had done a very basic gallery wall in the apartment when we first moved in. I used mismatched frames and just made it work. It actually came out pretty good considering I did not measure anything and I had no plan when I started it. But I never really loved it and I always wanted to try something new.

The ugly gold frame example. Just one of sooo many!
After I started to pull down the gallery wall I used to have. But you can see the space.
So this weekend I devised a plan. I would go through all of my frames and organize them. Then I would spray paint them to match! I. am. a. genius. So after I laid out all of my ugly gold frames and thought this is going to suck. So I ran to Home Depot and picked up some primer, masking tape and Kaki colored matte spray paint. I hit my first snag when I realized that the back of some of these frames did not come off. Meaning that I could not spray paint these frames very easily without them looking cheap. So I left the glass in the frames and taped them up as you can see here:
I found a use for all those copies of Time we have laying around. Read them you say? Never.
I then went to town on my frames out on my balcony, after the guy at Home Depot told me to wait because it was to humid out and too hot. NONSENSE I said. I have special powers. And I began. Turns out he was right. It took much longer for the paint to dry than the ten minutes it said it would on the can and I also sweat a lot more sitting in the sun while spray painting.

Looking good so far, I think!
Oh so many frames... At this point I want to die from heat exhaustion.

Up next, I will show you how I am going to lay out all my frames and plan the space. Let me give you a hint, I needed more frames... and I am still not done with spray paint.

The weekend that never was...

This weekend recap is going to a huge rant about why it sucked, sorry. Reviewing all the BS that happened will make you want to slit your wrists, sorry again. It is now Wednesday, deal with it. So here goes.

Friday we had our normal movie night, except when giving my dog belly scratches I realized that he had two ticks. Fast forward to us calling the doggy hospital and running to Pets mart  to buy flea wash and meds. (I was already taking him to vet the next morning but we felt we should not wait) Then Mr. A washing the dog in flea and tick bath as I try to make french macaroons for brunch the next morning. Over beating the macaroons while helping the hubs get the meds on the dog and then realizing the tea sandwiches are not quick to make. Annoyed, I then am up till about 1130 making sandwiches. Go to bed, then hear a helicopter floying around my house, I look outside there are about 10 cop cars parked across the street and three helicopters circling. I try to wake Mr.A, he tells me to hush and snuggle, says its nothing. I am scared to death that some man hunt is going on outside. So I read my book, "Huger Games" (awesome book by the way), and try to fall asleep. As soon as I dose off, Mr. A wakes up and announces he cant sleep and that I woke him up. He goes to living room, I dose some more. I am woken up by him whipping open the door and telling me to lock the bedroom door an stay in the room with our dog. I panic and do the only rational thing you can do, open the door and go find him.

I find him in the man cave putting together our gun, (why we have a gun is a whole other story) that I make him have in 6 pieces. He then says someone is trying to break in to the apartment downstairs, I freak out. We sit in silence in our living room, waiting. Now both of us are terrified thinking that the man hunt going on across the street that just ended has begun again at our front door. Well about 30 mins go by and nothing. We calm down but not enough to go to bed so now we decide to watch the classic movie, Fast and Furious because you know, that is what you do at 230 am when terrified. So we do and then we fall asleep around 330am.

Saturday morning at 7, we take the dog to the vet for them to get the ticks off of him, turns out my dog just need to exfoliate more. He has a freaking BLACKHEAD on his pee pee and that is what we were worried about. UGH. So after $150 bucks at the vet and $80 on his tick meds and wash we are not happy. We head home, I start hosting my friends at the house to watch the Royal Wedding.

I totally want to write whole other post about the wedding because it was AMAZE-BALLS. I will do that tomorrow. The girls were great, everything looked perfect. We start having fun. That's when it hits me, I am going to throw up! I sit down before I pass out and my friend Whitney helps me by making me a mimosa, because that cures everything. I feel better and I ignore the dizziness. Nothing can stop me from day drinking and wedding history!

Meanwhile my dog starts to poop everywhere in the living room. Runny gross stuff. It was not adding to my ladies brunch I was hosting. SOOO I get that cleaned up while wanting to toss my tea sandwich all over the place. Whitney, again helps me by making my dog some rice to help with the runny poo. Dog poops 4 more times in the house throughout the day, leaving them spread out all over the house like special gifts for me to find. I am not happy.

Hubs gets home, I am still sick, he eats leftovers and we pass out.

Next AM, our dog shits again everywhere we take him to the animal hospital. THREE HOURS later we get out of there, $100 bucks lighter. He needs YOGURT!!!! The dog prescribed yogurt and relaxation apparently he was stressed. REALLY!?!

SO now that my dog is ZEN I worry I am totally prggers, I have convinced myself of this while waiting at the pet hospital. I then rush to Walgreen's and buy 4 tests. I pass all of them!!! WHOOO WHOOO no ginger baby around these parts yet! So the hubs and I celebrate with mangia pizza and too much wine. All the while not figuring out why I am dizzy and sick. Ehh we will worry about that later.

SOO how was your weekend? Better than mine?

Confession

I went to go see Scream 4 last night with Mr. A. I was a little scared so Mr. A ordered us a bottle of wine to help chill me out. Apparently it worked like a charm... I ended up wasted in the theater giggling at the movie. Which BTW was totally a good scary movie. Ahhhh how I love Sundays with my best friend, Malbec and the movies!

To add to it I needed to pick up a few things at the grocery store on the way home. Tipsy grocery shopping was a lot of fun. Calories and cost meant nothing to me. I ended up with a vat of strawberries, Nutella, chips, hummus, cheese and milk. Nice.

UPDATE: Blogging from my phone means I can't edit! Sorry for the typos. Fail.

Weekend recap a week late, it's ok you can judge me

Last weekend we did so much. I would like to write all about it but honestly I am being lazy. So I will give you a brief update in pictures...

We started off at the air show with Kelly and Mr. A's family!

We then went to the wildflower center. I had never been there. It was beautiful!

We had a busy weekend filled with catching up with our families and planting even more on our porch! More on that in a bit! But we are so looking forward to this weekend because this weekend Mr. A gets to fly in one of the planes featured above! I bet you can't guess what I will be doing!!!

Have a fun weekend all!

I am a master florist...

Or maybe I am in my head... but whatever. I decided to try somthing that scares the crap out of me this weekend. I planted live flowers!

After an hour or so at Home Depot and many phone calls to my mom, here is the before and after. Everything lived through the night so I take that as a huge accomplishment. Don't judge me please. I kill everything in my house other than Mr. A and our dog.

Weekend Recap

This weekend was the first in a while that we actually had at home. We took full advantage by doing as many fun things as we could!

Friday - Movie night (of course). We ordered our usual Pei Wei and hosted our great friends Jason and Amelia and there cute puppy Izzy for the night. We watched "Get Him to the Greek" and it was really funny! I honestly did not want to watch it but I am really glad we did. God I love our movie nights.

Saturday - I met with Kelly and Ginger and we took our dogs to Town Lake bight and early. The dogs seemed to be happy about this, I on the other hand was super tired. Kelly and I grabbed a large cup of coffee and then headed to HEB to get some groceries. Then Saturday night Mr. A and some other friends piled in the car and went to Wurstfest! I had never been but man we had a great time. After a lot of wandering around we finally parked our group in one of the tents. We danced to polka music and drank German beer. What a fun and silly night!

Sunday - I woke up super early to participate in the "Race for the Cure" with Kelly and Janet. Ginger and Harry were all dressed up and ready to head out in their pink outfits. We all started our morning with mimosas and muffins. The walked the race. There were so many people there! What a fun race to do. We then headed to "Iron Cactus" for a fabulous brunch with bottomless mimosas (of course). I then headed home and passed out for about 5 hours! We ended our weekend cooking dinner together and watching a movie with our puppy.

Such a fun weekend! Hope you all had a good one too!

I know I have been MIA

Sorry about me being MIA for about two weeks. I have been super busy at work and at home. I had ACL and then one of my conferences, which went well, and then ended up super sick the last four days. I am working hard on new posts and will be back in full force in no time.

Last night Mr. A surprised me with date night. He gave flowers and proposed two options. Of course in my normal fashion I did not choose one so we are doing one of the dates tonight! Last night we went to Alamo Draft house to see "The Social Network" and I have to say I left the movie thinking Mark Zuckerburg was kind of an asshole. Anyone else? I kind of wanted to delete my Facebook account but then I realized that canceling my one membership would not do anything to his 500 million friends... Any who I thought the movie was really good and lived up to the hype so glad we finally went to see it!

Tonight we are carving pumpkins and watching another scary movie at our house. What do you all do to celebrate Halloween?

Weekend Recap

Where does the time go? I have been married for two weeks now and I can't believe it! I looked at my calendar this morning and just last week I was getting back from our Mexican honeymoon (and update on that coming soon) and unwrapping gifts from our loved ones. Just two weeks ago I was waking up in my suite at the SFA with my new husband after the best night of our lives.

I still can't remember all the details from the day and as time goes by I am riddled with regret that I did not push myself to relax more and enjoy the day. It hit me like a smack in the face - a friend of mine gave me that description. I am hoping the pictures from the weekend will keep flooding in and I will begin to get my memories back.

For this weekend we did our first "A" family movie night complete with Pei Wei and wine. We watched "Clash of the Titans" a movie that I was not expecting much from. In the end I was happy with it though and even more happy to be snuggling with my cute family on our bad ass old people sofas.

Saturday Mr. A had to work all day and I got to work on cleaning up our mess of a home. I finally got groceries and menu planned. I am looking forward to using all my new kitchen stuff and all the wonderful cookbooks my friends and families gave us. That night we watched the game at a new bar called Kung Fu with some friends and then headed to watch some other friends' band play.

Sunday morning Mr. A and I got up and met our friends Amelia and Jason for a walk around the lake. The bridge is being extended so instead of our normal 3 miles it ended up being almost 5! Very tired we then headed to Austin Java for breakfast and mimosas. We then headed home very tuckered out and I feel asleep right away. Got to love the afternoon nap.

Sunday night I made Mr. A our first meal as husband and wife! I know it is sad it took me two weeks to do so but please don't judge. We had a lot going on. I made a recipe from the cookbook my friend Janet gave us called the "Newlywed's Cookbook" perfect title I thought. It was pasta with pancetta, peas and sage. SOOOO yummy. I highly recommend it.

Now back to the grind of work.... Mondays always come to fast.

What the hell is going on with me?

This weekend my sister threw one heck of a bachelorette party for me. We had so much fun chatting, relaxing, catching up, and eating! She even had a little surprise lingerie shower for me and lots of other cute games planned. I really had so much fun with all the girls. I really needed the break from reality. I feel even more like this is all getting real.

Well the reason I am writing this post is not to give you all a full recap because as we all know some of that stuff need to stay a bit private! But I do have to mention that I got really sick on Saturday night. I did not think anything of it other than I must have over ate my sister's wonderful cheese ball and nothing else. Sunday I drove home sick and since then have not felt 100%.

Well the pain never really went away and this morning I apparently had a full fledged panic attack. Like, chest pains, shortness of breath, panicking, impending doom, passed out, dizzy kinda stuff. I hid in an office at work and called WF to come get me. Turns out I am a bit more stressed about things going on in my life then I even let myself in on. I was so embarrassed because honestly the wedding is not that big of a deal. I am super excited about getting married and I know I have some amazing friends who will be there will me every step of the way. I can't believe how worried I have gotten in just the last week or so.

Anyway panic attacks are no fun. I don't suggest any of you get this way. I am making a personal apology to my friends who might be dealing with a bit of my crazy right now. I know I am crazy, admitting I have a problem is the first step on the road to recovery right?

Holy crap I need to get on the ball...

I realized this morning that I need to get my shit together ASAP. I have 6 weekends left until the wedding. In the meantime I have a work convention to prep for and all my other usual stuff life stuff, like being a friend, and fiancĂ© and doing laundry, cooking and all of that jazz. If you count the weekend I am going to Houston for my bachelorette party #2 and the weekend my FMIL is in town I really have four weekends. Plus my mom will be here for two of those weekends so that means I really only have two weekends to myself to get all of this stuff done. HOLLY CRAP!

I have a list of things I have to get done in the next few weeks but this weekend I really chipped away at my to do's. I found a rather promising bathing suit for the honeymoon  at Dillard's. SWEET. I returned my $281 worth of clothing to Anthro that I totally did not need. I was a cheap wench and got free samples of the face creams I like from Lux Apothotique at the Domain. I bought a high waisted belt from Charming Charlie's, because I want to fit in so badly. I also swam (and almost died again) a half mile plus in the pool. I went to a birthday dinner and had Austin Land and Cattle for the first time, CHECK. And I had dinner at Kelly's house while watching my dog play her her dogs for about 3 hours.

This BS about brides loosing weight before the wedding I am totally over. I have gained at least five pounds. I need to put the chicken leg down and walk away from the wine. Time to get serious.

I still have to buy one more bathing suit, get some shoes that I can actually wear on my honeymoon, buy a big straw hat for the beach, check to make sure WF's bow tie matched the vest we ordered for the wedding, print all of our programs, menu's, thank you bags, make all of the out of town guest bags, buy gifts for people, and all sort of other stuff.

I feel as though time might become a factor here. Panicking is not allowed.

White people burn...

Let me preface this story with a bit of background. WF and I are both VERY fair skinned people. We love that we are both white because neither of us looks odd standing next to each other in bathing suites. We also always wear 80spf when preparing to be outside for any amount of time...

This weekend we got up at 7am to watch Germany kick some serious ass in the World Cup. It was pouring rain at the time, so WF and I just hoppend in the car and headed to the bar. We thought we were hard core by getting to the bar at 8:07 am. No no, there were crazy German fans there already. Luckily we got a good seat and ordered breakfast. WF was supposed to play golf in the afternoon, but it had been raining for days so he figured it would not happen so he kind of half ass prepared to go. Oh how wrong he was.

After the Germans kicked butt the guys left to play golf. I did not hear from him for 5 hours, until I got a text that said, "I am in so much pain, I have never hurt so freaking much", concerned I called him. He of course did not pick up. Instead about 20 minutes later he walked into our house looking just like a fire truck. Not like fat or anything, just the same color as a freaking fire truck! BRIGHT FREAKING RED!!!! He was on FIRE, burned from head to toe. Apparently someone forgot to put on sunscreen and burned himself to a crisp trying to hang like he was not slowly melting for 5 hours in the sun.

Seriously the rest of our Fourth of July weekend was spent sitting on the sofa in air conditioning putting ice cold alo vera gel all over him and feeding him water and pain killers. It was horrible. I felt so bad for the guy. There is a picture of this sun burn, BUT I have been told that I would be killed if I blogged it. So in order to keep my relationship with WF in tact we will not be posting it here. But some of my readers have seen it, and they know how bad it was.

The good news he is now on to the peeling stage, not so painful, but much more gross. Poor thing.

Hope your weekends were better than WF's.

Weekend Recap - Why I should not drink anymore

Friday - We celebrated Ben and Janet's engagement at Z-Tejas restaurant in downtown Austin. They wanted to have a "get to know you" wedding party party, and I think it was a great kick off to their wedding events!

I got there a bit early to get a table for everyone, and get set up. Plus I was rocking my boot (pictured above) and I wanted to make sure I did not fall down the stairs in front of people while carrying stuff. While waiting for everyone I decided to beat the heat with a margarita. After some more time everyone else got there and I ordered another margarita. Then it was almost 7 and happy hour was almost over so I ordered another margarita. And another just in case. After realizing that I was sufficiently wasted I proceeded to start spouting off all the bad words in German I have learned from WF. Kelly then mentioned she was drunk and I felt better about my being drunk. So what do you when you feel better about being drunk? You got that right, I ordered another margarita. For those of you counting I had FIVE margaritas in one night. Yes that is right FIVE.

Saturday - THE MOURNING AFTER, yes I spelled that right, I was in mourning for my youth. When after drinking too much liqueur I could bounce out of bed and pop a Tylenol and vitamin. Well I am not that chick anymore. I woke up at 3:30 in the morning with leg cramps from being dehydrated and could not fall back asleep. So I proceeded to stay up and watch "Showgirls" and "Shrek" while crying because I was on the verge of death. It was an awesome morning. Really. I almost killed my beloved dog because he needed to pee and the thought of standing up almost made me vomit.

I (after hours of drinking water and eating dry cereal) then headed to watch the U.S. loose in the world cup at Third Base. Why there was a 30 minute wait to get into the bar I don't know. Even more awesome. We eneded the night stoping by the pour house pub for a friends birthday party. I crashed shortly after.

Sunday - We headed to Amelia's house for some R+R and Mighty Fine. Their new house is going to be amazing. We floated in the pool and messed with our dog. A great end to a hangover weekend that almost killed me.

Bachelorette Party Weekend Update

I can not put into words how much fun I has this weekend. My friends threw me the most amazing bachelorette party that I could have asked for! My hostesses were Janet and Kelly, both are bridesmaids in my wedding and apparently rock'in party planners!

The big day started off with breakfast at my house. Kelly and Janet had quiches and some amazing muffins, complete with make your own bellinis. I made blueberry french toast casserole with coffee and tea. I got a perfect little coach bag from my two bridesmaids in Philly who could not make it. I immediately changed bags to use it for the day!

The event planner and great friend Molly loaded us up in our van. We had a bodyguard/driver, games and bottled water with personalized labels! We headed to our first location, Becker Vineyards and had our first tasting. The wine there was amazing. So not what I would think would be coming out of the wineries in Texas. We then sat outside and chatted on the porch with a bottle of wine bought by my two bridesmaids in Philly, Kate and Sarah (thank you ladies).

Then we headed to Grape Creek Vineyards, where we had another bottle of wine outside and took a tour of the facilities. So interesting to hear how everything was done and how the wine was made. I do have to say by this point I had had enough wine that everything was super interesting! We did a tasting in the cellar right out of the barrels and I thought that was really cool. You could tell the difference in flavor from one barrel to the next. Then we had a totally amazing picnic lunch, of which our bodyguard set up for us. I remember at this point knowing I drank too much because Molly had taken my cell phone away from me! Darn you miss Molly!

We then headed to our final location, Torre di Pietra Winery. Super cute, and had live music! I loved a few of their wines! We sat outside on their pavilion for a few hours. We danced and drank and chatted. I believe this is where I get officially "classy (maybe a bit sloppy) drunk" I know at some point there were pictures of me with all the girls rings on, engagement, wedding, just for fun because I am fab rings, all of them. Why? I don't know.

We then headed home. I believe there were some penis scratch off's, there may have been some flashing of other cars by yours truly and so on. We got home and I gave the hosts thier gifts. A Shake Weight! Let's just say this gift made the rest of the night pretty interesting. We ended the night with a dance party in the living room while chugging the four bottles champagne that miss Amelia bought us!

I spent Sunday recovering on the sofa. The hang over was not that bad, but I was so tired I could barely move. I had some taco shack and that helped. WF and I hung out on the sofa most of the day and recovered together. (He had a horrible rock star night as well!)

For some pictures check out Amber's blog. I can't thank all the ladies enough for such a fun day! I am so lucky to have lots of girlfriends and love from all of you! Kelly and Janet you both have become amazing friends over these last five years and I am so lucky to call you two dear friends. Thank you for hosting an amazing party!

Weekend Recap

Friday - We went to dinner at Maggiano's at the Domain for our friend Jason's birthday. It was wonderful food, but sooo much food. Next time we are just going to go for the salad and some bread! It was wonderful to catch up with friends and chat. Our friends Andy and Rich just got married and had come back from thier honeymoon that day so we got to talk shop about their wedding and hear all about Jason and Amelia's new home that I can not wait to see!

Saturday - I woke up at about 5:30 am with a leg cramp and neither of us could go back to bed. So we got up and watched the world cup game that started at 6 am, LIVE. We then watched more soccer, and then even more soccer. WF is a huge soccer fan, he played all through high school and when he lived in Europe so this is a very big deal for him. We then picked out his tux for the wedding and his groomsmen's tuxes. I think we might make a slight change to what they will be wearing but we got the order all taken care of and saved the guys some money on their rentals, so that was really exciting. We also returned my shoes for the wedding to DSW, because of my foot I can not wear the ones I bought - sigh... But the good news? I got an even cute pair of Manolo rip offs that are way more comfortable! WHOO WHO!

Sunday - We got up and watched even more soccer. It was about then realized there is a great thing about all this soccer watching, I get to stare at hot men with my WF for hours on end! Have any of you noticed how hot some of these foreign men are??? Getting all sweaty and angry... Anyway, we then headed over to Costco and joined that cult. It was an experience I will never do again, at least on a Sunday. That place was freaking insane! $150 bucks later we finally got out of there. We also got our rings in and then sent them out to be engraved (not at Costco, BTW) and I also got my engagement rind sized finally! It should be ready for my bachelorette party this weekend so I am super pumped about that. I then came home and finally hung up pictures in our guest room, it has been a  year I figured it was time. We then watched Tru Blood (god I love the sex filled, hot men filled show!)

Super productive weekend I think!

Weekend Recap and BIG news!!!

This past weekend started off at a low point but could not have wound up better!

Friday - I went to the doctor to find out if my foot was healing and if I could start working out again. It was a no go, in fact it had gotten worse. To avoid much more detail lets just say I ended up with a steroid shot in my foot and a numb foot for the rest of the night. Fun stuff for sure. In other more fun news WF and I started watching Wale Wars a while back and are not totally addicted! I know it is a weird animal planet show but we love this crap! The season premier was Friday so you bet your asses we were watching it. I highly recommend you check it out.

Saturday - I got up super early and headed to Houston to go hang out with my sister for a little bonding time. I know with the wedding coming up my monthly visits will probably not happen so I took advantage. We went to go see Sex and the City 2 (after I had fallen asleep during most of it the first time) and I have to say It was what I thought it would be. A lot of fluff and a whole lot of nothing. Still fun and totally worth the money to go but ehhh they should stop making these movies. Heather and I then hung out with the family and made dinner with family friends.

Sunday - I learned how hard it is to get out of the house with two kids. Two hours after we started to leave we finally made it to the mall. No fault to anyone though, it was a lot of fun to play with the kids and relax with my sister. I have such an appreciation for her!

In other big, HUGE, and WONDERFUL news, one of my oldest and closets friends Kate, got ENGAGED this weekend! YEAH!!!! Her fiancĂ© Matt is the state trooper I mentioned a while back who had both of his legs crushed in a horrible accident. She and Matt deserve nothing but the best and are a prime example of unconditional and true love. Kate is one of the kindest most genuine people I have ever known and I just can not be happier for her and her husband to be. Matt proposed to her on the beach while they were walking their dog! So sweet! CONGRATULATIONS KATIE!!!!
